Barcelona, before making an official statement on the signing of Marcos Alonso, released a video of the defender training with Xavi Hernandez’s side on Friday. He has already been released by Chelsea, so although his registration has not been formalised, he can train wherever he wants.

Marcos Alonso joined Barcelona training on Friday alongside Hector Bellerin. The former Real Betis player has been officially announced as a signing, but his compatriot is waiting for the club to finish the necessary paperwork to process his registration in La Liga. Once that is done, there will be a public announcement.

In the meantime, the club have posted a video on their social media channels showing the former Chelsea player walking up the stairs at the Barcelona training complex to get on the pitch and train with his teammates. He can do so because, as he has already terminated his contract with Thomas Tuchel’s side, he is free to train wherever he wants.

The ‘Cules’ post with the defender did not take long to go viral, as, after all, it was a kind of confirmation of his arrival in the squad. Perhaps the timing will allow him to be in the squad against Sevilla, although this match could be too early and it is possible that we will have to wait another week to see him playing for the Catalan giants.

Marcos Alonso will provide Xavi with the experience and level of play that he needed in his schemes. Sergino Dest has already left on loan to Milan as a result of the coach not being convinced that he would be useful. This is not what he thinks of his replacement, who will not take long to be made official.
